Seen With Cloos: Sebastian Liljeblad

Seen With Cloos: Sebastian Liljeblad

In this month's Seen With Cloos, we are excited to present Sebastian Liljeblad. Besides traveling the world through his modeling career, Sebastian works as a physiotherapist and photographer. Get to know the stylish gentleman – who also happens to be a loyal Clooser – in this interview.

Tell us about an ordinary day in your life?

I am a morning person, waking up around 05.30 almost everyday. Breakfast is the best meal of the day, so I spend a little bit of extra time eating in the morning. Then depending on the day, if it's modeling, video production or my “normal” job as a physiotherapist, I usually workout in the morning so I can focus on my tasks during the day.

Spending the day in a studio, filming a project or helping a client is usually the workflow, good vibes with a positive mindset. After a day's work I go back home and either continue with a bit of editing, playing badminton, go for a run or just relax and watch series.

How and when did your modeling career begin?

I was in my early 20s, working as a light technician in Sweden. One time, when setting up the lights for a fashion show, one of the models became suddenly ill. I was asked if I could fill the spot, and even though I didn't like being in front of cameras or on stage, I decided to do it.

After one week the phone rang and a few hours later I sat on a plane to Milan for my first campaign. That was over 10 years ago and I am still modeling around the world.

When did your passion for photography begin?

It started when I was working in the French Alps as a ski guide. But trying to capture moments in the slopes back then was horrible. I was really bad at it and the gear I had wasn't good at all. But I had fun with it and everyone wanted photos and videos of them skiing so I just kept taking photos, always looking for new angles or better light. I guess that was the start for my creative side with photography.

How would you define your style?

I would say that I have more of an active / functional style because of my work and travel in my daily life. Even if a lot of my photos are suits and fancy clothes, I would say that I have more of a little hint of the riviera, classy/casual and always ready for a sunset dinner on the beach.

From your experience, what are the best and worst parts of being a model?

Traveling the world and meeting new exciting people is always a winner. I guess there’s a lot of positives and negatives about being a model. I think it also comes down to what you aspire for in the model world, but without doubt the worst part is the crazy early call times sometimes. Waking up at 03.45 is never something I am looking forward to much.

Do you have any advice for aspiring young male models?

Get a good variety of photos of you. Start your modeling as a hobby or help photographers out. Photographers always want new faces and try out new lights and ideas. So grab that opportunity, learn poses and find out what kind of model you are or what you are suited for. Have fun, play around and feel comfortable in front of the camera.

You have been a loyal CC ambassador for quite some years now. Tell us about your favorite pair of Cloos, and why you like the brand.

Hands down Paloma - Bourbon. Those sunglasses have been traveling with me around the world and in countless photoshoots. The timeless design and quality of Christopher Cloos sunglasses is what makes them the best. I think it’s the minimalistic approach of the design that makes me like them. I’m not really a big fan of super crazy designs that scream attention. I do appreciate the subtle hints of great design and most important that they feel good when I wear them.
